Three strange and seemingly unrelated crimes made the news in Greyhawk again this week, as all three victims
claim to have received the same cryptic letter:
Most curiously, all three notes were signed "Keraptis". This reporter has done some deep diving in the Mage's
Library (thanks, guys!) and discovered that Keraptis was an eccentric wizard who was excluded from the
Mage's Guild because of questionable practices and research - at least, that's the official story.
Here's the kicker, dear readers: Keraptis died over 1300 years ago. So who stole the artifacts? Certainly
not the poor servants or or Thieve's Guild members who were so wrongly blamed (and punished!).
This reporter thinks that the story is far from over - Wave, Whelm, and Blackrazor, the three items reported
missing, are now being sought after by the same heroes who recently cleaned out the old Dwarven Forge down
South! More news as it develops...
The Party took advantage of their "VW BUS of Flying Carpets" and made great time to the small village nearest White Plume Mountain. The villagers know about a cave not too far from the plume that the party could use as shelter, but locals tend to stay away from the mountain, for good reason.
White Plume Mountain is an almost perfectly conical volcanic hill formed from an ancient slow lava leakage. It is about 1,000 yards in diameter at the base, and rises about 800 feet above the surrounding land. The white plume that gives the mountain its name and fame is a continuous geyser that spouts from the very summit of the mountain another 300 feet into the air, trailing off to the east under the prevailing winds like a great white feather. The spray collects in depressions downslope and merges into a sizable stream. Steam vents are visible in various spots on the slopes of the mountain, but none of them are large enough to allow entry.
